1 CANOE SEIZED & 7 LABORERS DETAINED FOR ILLEGAL SAND EXTRACTION_Prudent Media Goa

In a joint raid conducted by Mines Department and Bardez-Mamletdar at sand excavation site at Quittol-Aldona, one canoe has been seized and 7 labors have been detained. The canoe was found without registration number and was filled with 4 meter cube of river sand. After catching the labors red handed while excavating river sand, the canoe was brought to the shore and all 7 laborers were detained. The laborers were later handed over to Mapusa Police for violation of Mineral Concession Rules 1985, amounting to theft of mineral.
Mines Dept has requested Mapusa Police to take necessary action on said laborers and owner of canoe for illegal excavation of river sand.
