Today’s video from The Texas Boys: There used to be a time in America when kids were truly "needed" in the family. They weren't just given menial-token chores to do.
They truly were a respected member of the family and in most cases this took place on family farms. Families had to provide food, clothing, warmth for their households and the children grew up with a feeling of dignity and self respect. We read somewhere years ago, and remind ourselves and the children often that "we are not raising children, we are raising adults". They do not need any encouragement to be silly, playful, and at times foolish children...that all happens naturally in the course of any day. What they need is a kindhearted steady encouragement to grow and press forward to become the adults that they were designed to be.
Today the boys share with you their daily chore of milking our family cow.

Just four Texas brothers trying to homestead! Sit back and enjoy while we learn and enjoy the simple life together! We love making videos.
We raise goats, laying hens, meat birds, meat rabbits and mascovy ducks on our 5 acre homestead. We are planting fruit trees on contour, using swales to develop a sustainable food forest. While using our goats to clear land and our chickens to fertilize and till the ground, putting our animals to work for us implementing permaculture to maximize our efforts.
