IE Women 2019 | International Women's Day Poem - "On days like this..."

On days like this...
Don’t we sometimes forget,
That most of what she knew,
Was to chase the distance,
Between her and his voice,
Hoping her feet could serve the fleet of emotions,
That led him to believe in equal say and equal pay.

On days like this,
Don’t we forget to celebrate,
The progress that we’ve made.

That she too is a lot like you,
Once a bird with clipped wings,
Today breaking boundaries,
That are testament to the work
Of a generation that values integration,
As opposed to segregation,
Where the dialogue between men
And women sets the administration,
Upon which his and her voice lead and leave a legacy,
That will bloom despite stigmatization

On days like this
Don’t we sometimes forget,
That our world is not plagued by stagnation
That most of what we know,
Is the birth of a new convention,
A new paradigm,
Where equality is a constant climb,
Worth the Lifetime,
For both him and her And you and I

On days like this,
Don’t we sometimes forget,
That we have nothing to lose but our chains
That because of him, because of her,
Because of you, because of I
Our future is limitless.

So on days like this,
Don’t be left behind,
Pass it on.


In this 2019 edition of the IE International Women’s Day we celebrate the contributions men and women have shared with each other towards the creation of a new paradigm and the legacy we’re going to leave behind.

Pass It On was created in order to highlight the uniqueness of every woman. The project serves as a special stage for all the women of the IE Community to leave their own personal legacy, as well as a space where other women can discover those legacies and share them.

IE Women develop their skills, gain wisdom, and inspire confidence not only in themselves and their peers, but also pass on that legacy to future generations. Everyone has the capacity to pass on a positive legacy. To have a positive impact. To empower others.

But still, legacies are the result of our choices. Pass It On, together with the IE Women Initiative, aim to materialize the empowerment of IE Women through our women’s mentoring programs and research, international events, the creation of networking opportunities, and exclusive scholarships. This is how we can truly create long-lasting inspiration for the women who have made, and will continue to make, IE such a diverse place.
