Jackie McLean was a master of the alto saxophone, he played bebop, hard bop, and later on modal jazz. He recorded with a huge number of jazz stars such as Miles Davis, Charles Mingus, Art Blakey, Sonny Rollins, Thelonious Monk, Bud Powell, Lee Morgan, Freddie Hubbard, Donald Byrd, Dexter Gordon and many more. He is known for his distinctive tone, bitter-sweet, piercing, searing, a slightly sharp pitch, and a strong foundation in the blues,
