Japan's Type 26 9mm Revolver: Variants, Disassembly, & More

Japan's Type 26 9mm Revolver: Variants, Disassembly, & More Shifting gears, this time we really dig into the history, construction, and variants of the first Japanese revolver. Officially adopted as the 'ni-ju-roku-nen-shiki' or Two Ten Six Year Type, today we know it as simply the Type 26 or even just T-26. Some even call it 'Nambu Revolver' which is completely wrong, but there it is.

It was approved for military service in 1893, which was the 26th year of the Meiji Emperor. Production was carried out exclusively at the Tokyo Arsenal at Koishikawa, over a 3 decade period. The T26 was double-action only, fired 9x22mm, and had a breaktop design not disimular to a S&W.

In this video we examine 3 of these revolvers; including a rather early one, one made during WWI, and one built at the tail end of production.
Also we show you how to take one apart for cleaning and/or repair.
