Liverpool news : Liverpool could be about to make the biggest transfer mistake - and Man Utd would

Liverpool news : Liverpool could be about to make the biggest transfer mistake - and Man Utd would Liverpool and Coutinho’s love affair ended in January 2018, when the Brazil international left to pursue his dream of playing for Barcelona. But it appears even the sweetest of dreams can turn into the worst of nightmares. Coutinho has been poor for Barcelona since his arrival. Not only is he struggling for form - there is also talk of a move away at the end of the campaign. Barcelona, according to reports, are pondering whether to cut him loose. And Liverpool, given their need for a world-class attacker, should be sniffing about. However right now, they’re not. Jurgen Klopp feels his side if just fine, thank you very much. In his eyes, they require only minor tinkering. In short, the German feels that Liverpool do not need big additions. Just minor tweaks in certain areas. But, hell, they could do with a No 10. Xherdan Shaqiri impressed at the start of the season but has barely been seen since. The Swiss star’s absence from recent matches has prompted uncertainty over his future. Liverpool wanted Nabil Fekir in the summer but the Frenchman’s injury problems scuppered a transfer. But now, they could land their dream signing. Coutinho would be a huge addition. He already knows what the club is about, has played under Klopp before and could help Liverpool towards trophies they crave. Manchester United, however, a problem. They, too, supposedly want the Brazil international and, at the time of writing, their interest appears to be a tad more concrete. After all, whenever they land a new manager, they spend big. And who wouldn’t turn down Coutinho? United have impressed going forwards under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. They are certainly a lot easier on the eye than the Jose Mourinho era.  A No 10 is also needed at Old Trafford. Juan Mata, in that position, is finished. And United’s gain would be Liverpool’s loss. If Coutinho is available, then Klopp, Michael Edwards and the rest of the Reds bigwigs should be going all out to snap him up. Should they fail to do that, they run the risk of the Samba star being a United hit. And not just next season. Coutinho is 27. It is a transfer saga that could have repercussions for years to come.
