This video is for instructional purposes for beginner art students in Studio Art, grade 9. This video shows a technique of using acrylic paint and water to overlay an underpainting (a value painting using one color and water also), to build the density of colors. While some approaches to transparent layering of color utilize a gel medium, this approach only uses water as a more basic technique as we don't utilize this material in this course. This foundational technique allows beginners to use an underpainting as a "map" of where the values go, and give them something to work agains to layer to create a more dense painting.
