The Shanghai World Financial Center is a supertall skyscraper located in the Pudong district of Shanghai, China. When the building topped out in 2007 at 1,614 feet (492 meters), it became the 8th tallest building in the world.
The most distinctive feature of SFWC is its trapezoid aperture found at the peak of the building. The main purpose of the aperture is to reduce stresses of wind pressure.
The Shanghai World Financial Center features three observation decks: 94th floor (1,388 ft/423 m), 97th floor (1,440 ft/439 m), and 100th floor (1,555 ft/474 m).
Just next door to SFWC are two other supertall skyscrapers: Jin Mao Tower and Shanghai Tower, the tallest building in China.
