With March Madness right around the corner, I want to share with you guys on who I think are the Top 5 best point guards in this year’s draft. I’m sure you’re curious if your favorite point guard is here so let’s get right into it.
Morant helped Murray State earn its second straight NCAA Tournament appearance with an OVC Tournament MVP performance after the Racers won the tournament and earned an automatic bid into the dance.
Like last year, Murray State are a No. 12 seed, and will be hoping for a better performance this year in part because of the emergent step Morant took in his second year that’s now made him a top-three lock in just about every NBA mock draft.
Jones has averaged 9.0 points, 5.3 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 2.1 steals through 31 games, but has taken a backseat from a scoring perspective for obvious reasons. One area of concern which could impact his draft outlook is that he’s shot just 40.2 percent from the field and 24.4 percent from beyond the arc. With that said, his defense is excellent and draft analysts have still offered a fairly positive outlook on his draft projections.
An efficient three point shooter, Ty has hovered around 40% from deep throughout his career, while increasing his attempts every year. He also does a nice job of using head fakes and hesitation moves to get into the lane,
Garland has only played in five college games due to a meniscus injury in his left knee. It’s disappointing not being able to see him on the floor but he has shown enough in his high school career and in the few college games he played in to warrant him being selected in the lottery.
North Carolina Tar Heels guard Coby White has seen his 2019 NBA Draft stock slowly climb throughout the college basketball season. And heading into the NCAA tournament, White’s projections have started to skyrocket due to superb play. The 6-foot-5 guard will enter the draft as one of the top guards and is trending towards being a clear-cut lottery pick
