What’s going on guys! In todays’ video I’m gonna go over 3 of the WORST squat myths that you need to stop doing immediately.

The first squat myth we’re going to debunk is that your knees can’t go past your toes, and this is pure nonsense! When you go down into a squat without letting your knees go past your toes, makes it an extremely awkward movement. Your back is super forward, hips are back, and torso is in the wrong positioning. For example when you’re going up stairs, your knees go past your toes every single time. Your leg is made up so that your knees can travel past your toes safely, so don’t worry about your knees staying behind your toes next time you squat.

The second myth is you have to go “ass to grass.” Not everybody should be going this low on their squats, due to mobility issues. If you don’t have great mobility in your hips and ankles, you don’t have any business going ass to grass as this will only lead to knee pain. What happens is you develop “butt wink” where your butt winks under and extends under you because your hip mobility is not on par to go that low and deep. Instead, go as deep as you can comfortable without your butt winking under.

The third and final myth is always going heavy on the squat. Going heavier does have it benefits, but if going heavy is going to destroy your form then it’s not worth it. Half-squats is going to destabilize your knees because you are not using full range of motion. Instead, go lighter so you can get that proper depth without having the butt wink we mentioned in myth number 2.
