Carbon Fiber Plate - 2 Side Glossy Finish (How to)

Carbon Fiber Plate - 2 Side Glossy Finish (How to) In this tutorial I show you one of the ways how to create a carbon fiber plate that has a glossy finish on both sides. Not the easiest way but at least a way everyone could do it. Plates you buy from big suppliers with a double side finish are mostly made with prepreg and hydrolic heated presses.

In this video I show you how you go from a resin infused carbonfiber plate using vacuum and epoxy resin to a 2 side high grade finish. The process is simple, you create a carbon fiber plate with peelply on the back, cut it in half or make two halves. Once the peelply is removed you have a nice surface to add an extra layer of resin and fiber (can be fiberglass, kevlar, carbon fiber) Then the sandwich structure goes back under vacuum while curing and your done.

Note:
This technique would also work using wet-lay up and pressure with clamps instead of vacuum, but I aimed for the highest possible level of finish in a DIY environment.
