Conor McGregor Taught UFC a Valuable Lesson | SiriusXM | Luke Thomas

Conor McGregor Taught UFC a Valuable Lesson | SiriusXM | Luke Thomas Yesterday I discussed Conor McGregor's self-imposed exile or retirement from MMA and how claims that he holds the leverage over UFC is badly mistaken. Today I update that argument with some specific numbers, all of which only add weight to the argument I was making about the UFC's insurance from fighters trying to leverage them.

Given the changes, one can't help but think while the UFC profited from and enjoyed McGregor's rise, his power and ability to exercise certain forms of control prompted UFC to make the kinds of changes that would not only make them richer, but help reduce fighter leverage. From his surge in popularity to his boxing bout with Floyd Mayweather, UFC and Dana White realize while there was a lot of mutual gain to be had, any area of business vulnerability needed to be strengthened. With this pay-per-view (PPV) deal at ESPN+, they've done exactly that.
