Mess with Taylor once, shame on her. Mess with Taylor twice (or really, like, a hundred times)... shame on YOU. And your fragrance.
Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner just announced they’re delaying the release of their fragrance and many people think the Swifties are responsible.
You may have noticed Taylor’s cryptic posts over the last week or so teasing a big release on April 26. Is it an album? Is it a song? Did Tay adopt a new kitten she wants to introduce to us? (I’m ready for new music but I also won’t be mad if Meredith and Olivia have a new little friend… just saying).
Well, the internet was ABLAZE when Kim and Kylie ALSO announced they had a big release coming up on the same exact date. They released a bunch of photos on Instagram sharing the big news, which we can’t actually show you here because… well, they DELETED them.
Yep, the launch has been pushed BACK.
As soon as the KKW/Kylie fragrance collab was announced, the internet set off in a storm of conspiracy theories. It seemed like the date was more than a coincidence, especially since Kim and Taylor’s feud goes way back.
I mean, we can’t forget when Kim put Taylor on blast in a series of Snapchat posts. The feud was one of EPIC proportions, with Taylor eventually tweeting the iconic QUOTE: I would very much like to be excluded from this narrative, one that I never asked to be a part of, since 2009
Though Kim’s since said her Taylor beef is old news, it wouldn’t be THAT surprising if she was trying to overshadow Taylor.
Buuuut of course, some powers just can’t be reckoned with, and the Swifties are just one of those cases. They took to Kim and Kylie’s now-deleted fragrance announcement to call the sisters out.
One user said “The same day like taylor swift 4.26? It’s not a coincidence? Isn’t isn’t isn’t.”
Another user wrote, “So shady of them to launch the same day as Taylor Swift..”
Anyway, Kim just took to Twitter to announce that there was a (airquotes) “MANUFACTURER ISSUE” and the launch would be delayed.
She posted QUOTE: Sadly, we found out today from the manufacturer that a few of our bottles did not pass durability tests while on the assembly line and we have paused production while the team explores the issue further.
Kim went on to say QUOTE: Together, we have made the difficult decision to delay the launch as we would never release a product that did not meet the strictest of quality guidelines.
The fragrance’s new launch date hasn’t been announced yet.
So, is it possible the dates aligning was a total coincidence? Yes. Is it also possible that the fragrance launch date was purposely aligned with Taylor’s release, just to create some conversation, and then intentionally pushed to avoid ACTUALLY having to compete with Tay?
