Prosecutors charged Ramsey County sheriff's correctional officer Travis Vandewiele with misdemeanor assault involving a man being booked into the jail, Terrell Johnson, on April 13, 2016. Vandewiele pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and the assault charge was dismissed. Officers told deputies that Johnson had been sprayed with a chemical agent and would likely spit at them, and a "spit hood" was put over Johnson's mouth, according to the criminal complaint against Vandewiele. This video was recorded by another correctional officer and was filed with the court by Vandewiele's attorney.
