காலப் பயணம் (time travel) என்பது, தற்காலத்திற்கு சில கணங்கள் முன்பான காலத்தில் பின்னோக்கி பொருள்களை அனுப்புதல் (அல்லது சில நிகழ்வுகளில் தகவலை மட்டும்) அல்லது தற்காலத்திலிருந்து குறுக்கிடும் கால எதிர்கொள்ளலின் தேவையின்றி எதிர்காலத்திற்கு பொருள்களை அனுப்புதல் (குறைந்தபட்சம் இயல்பான விகிதத்திலாவது) ஆகியவற்றிலான பரவெளியில் வேறுபட்ட இடங்களுக்கிடையே ஒத்தியல்பான முறையில் நகர்த்துவதற்கான காலத்தில் வேறுபட்ட இடங்களுக்கிடையே நகர்த்தும் கருத்தாக்கமாகும். இருப்பினும் 19 ஆம் நூற்றாண்டிலிருந்து காலப் பயணம் என்பது புனைவில் ஒரு பொதுவான மையக்கருவாக இருந்துவருகிறது, அத்துடன் எதிர்காலத்திற்குள்ளான ஒரு வழிப் பயணமானது சிறப்பு சார்பியல் தத்துவத்தில் (இரட்டை முரண்மெய்மையால் விளக்கப்படுவது) உள்ள இயக்கவிசை, மற்றும் பொது சார்பியல் தத்துவத்தில் உள்ள ஈர்ப்புவிசை கால விரிவாக்கம் ஆகியவற்றின் அடிப்படையிலான கால விரிவாக்கத்தின் வழங்கப்பட்ட நிகழ்வில் வாதமுறையில் சாத்தியமுள்ளதாக இருக்கிறது என்பதுடன் இது பௌதீக விதிகள் பின்நோக்கிய காலப் பயணத்தை அனுமதிக்குமா என்பது தற்போது அறியப்படாததாக இருக்கிறது.

காலப் பயணம் குறித்த சில விளக்கங்கள், காலத்தில் பின்னோக்கி பயணிக்க முயற்சிக்கும் ஒரு பயணி கடந்த காலத்திற்கு வரும் கணத்திற்கு பின்னர் அந்தப் பயணியின் அசலான வரலாற்றிலிருந்து விலகிச்செல்ல தொடங்கக்கூடிய அவருடைய வரலாற்றை இணை பிரபஞ்சத்திற்கு எடுத்துச்செல்லாம் என்று கூறுகின்றன.
Time travel is the concept of movement between certain points in time, analogous to movement between different points in space by an object or a person, typically using a hypothetical device known as a time machine. Time travel is a widely-recognized concept in philosophy and fiction. The idea of a time machine was popularized by H. G. Wells' 1895 novel The Time Machine.
It is uncertain if time travel to the past is physically possible. Forward time travel, outside the usual sense of the perception of time, is an extensively-observed phenomenon and well-understood within the framework of special relativity and general relativity. However, making one body advance or delay more than a few milliseconds compared to another body is not feasible with current technology. As for backwards time travel, it is possible to find solutions in general relativity that allow for it, but the solutions require conditions that may not be physically possible. Traveling to an arbitrary point in spacetime has a very limited support in theoretical physics, and usually only connected with quantum mechanics or wormholes, also known as Einstein-Rosen bridges.
