Sermonette: "Investing in Talents" by David King
In the parable of the talents, Christ tells us that three men were given some talents, and two of them invested wisely and made a 100% ROI, whereas the third man was lazy and did nothing.
What spiritual lessons can we learn from this parable? We can compare it to modern-day fund managers investing millions of pounds, with two getting a promotion for their good work, and one getting fired for his lack of doing anything productive. The spiritual parallel for us is that God invests in us. He gives us gifts and talents, and we must invest them wisely to grow spiritually. We should not be like the man who had one talent and did nothing with it, like a christian who does nothing thinking that Christ did it all for them.
In the end God wants to see spiritual growth in each of us.
