In China, the university entrance examination, or gaokao, is widely considered to be the most important test in a young person’s life. The results may highly impact students’ future employment opportunities and income prospects.

In the nation's capital Beijing, nearly 60,000 candidates have just finished the 2019 gaokao. Now they – and their parents – are anxiously waiting to find out their scores.
