Navy successfully tests submarine rescue capability with new deep-sea vehicle The Indian Navy announced that it had successfully tested a Deep Submergence Rescue Vehicle. During the test, INS Sindhudhvaj simulated a submarine in distress and personnel were successfully transferred from the submarine to the DSRV. The exercise was conducted off the coast of Visakhapatnam. Apart from marine rescue missions, DSRVs are also used to lay cables on the seabed. The Navy had, last year, inducted the first Deep Submergence Rescue Vehicle. The Indian Navy is now part of a select group with integral submarine rescue capability.
