Switchel: The Old Fashioned Energy Drink

Switchel: The Old Fashioned Energy Drink After hours of work hard in the sun a body needs more than just water to rehydrate. Before high-fructose corn syrup, artificial dyes and flavors and aluminum cans were ever invented energy drinks were popular. You just had to make them at home!

They were inexpensive, delicious and REALLY good at replenishing the sodium/potassium balance in cells so that they can properly re-hydrate. This amazing drink was called by many different names, often switchel or haymaker’s punch.

In this video Carolyn shows you how to make a very simple version of this original sports drink, switchel.

You’ll feel so much better about what your family is drinking after that summer soccer game or after you’ve put in a day of hard work together in the garden. And best yet switchel has been known to help with digestion, skin problems, weight issues and lack of energy... all from an inexpensive and delicious drink!
