BRP Davao del Sur will be deployed to participate in the Russian naval parade

BRP Davao del Sur will be deployed to participate in the Russian naval parade BRP Davao del Sur (LD-602), one of the two Philippine Navy strategic sealift vessels, will be deployed Monday to participate in the naval parade in connection with the celebration of Russian Navy Day.

PN spokesman Captain Jonathan Zata said the delivery ceremony would take place at 11 am at Pier 13, Manila South Harbor.

Zata said this was the second time the Navy had deployed ships to Russia. The first was in October last year when BRP Tarlac (LD-601), the vessel of BRP Davao Del Sur, visited Vladivostok, Russia.

On the ship there were 300 naval contingents along with one helicopter detachment, consisting of the AgustaWestland AW-109, flight crew and maintenance personnel.

Russian Navy Day (also known as Russian Navy Day) is a national holiday in the Russian Federation and senior holidays in the Russian Armed Forces. The day honors sailors in Russian Navy units. Celebrated every year, on the last Sunday in July.

BRP Davao Del Sur, like the BRP Tarlac sister ship, has an overall length of 120 meters, a width of 21 meters, a design of five meters and can carry loads of 2,800 tons.

Both ships have a cruising speed of 13 knots and a maximum speed of 16 knots, and a minimum operating range of 7,500 nautical miles.
