"Our Family Is Afraid," Says Father-In-Law Of Bareilly Woman

After the daughter of a BJP lawmaker in Uttar Pradesh posted a video on social media claiming she is in danger from her father for marrying a man outside her caste, her father-in-law, Harish Kumar, says his entire family had to leave Bareilly in fear of the politician. "No one from our family is in Bareilly who can go to the police to file an FIR (First Information Report). The police are saying 'come to us', but how do we go? We are unable to go to Bareilly under pressure from the lawmaker. Our entire family is afraid," said Mr Kumar. He alleged the girl's father is angry over her marrying a Dalit man.
