Lewis A. Chodosh, MD, PhD, and his team are striving to develop a test for women who’ve successfully beaten breast cancer to determine the risk of cancer developing elsewhere, and to create individual prevention strategies. Being at risk for cancer is a scary thought, particularly for those who have overcome it once before. By developing a new clinical test, Lewis A. Chodosh, MD, PhD, and his colleagues want to keep that very thing from happening to women who have had breast cancer. He explains how analyzing microscopic Disseminated Tumor Cell (DTCs) could uncover knowledge about which female breast-cancer survivors are most at risk of cancer occurring elsewhere in their bodies, and building personalized preventive treatment.
