My EMPTY black waste tank reads 2/3 full. What’s up?!
For several months I would empty the black waste tank. I would hear the tank emptying to completion. However, when I checked the gauge it reads 1/3 or 2/3 FULL Thought I had faulty tank sensors.
I took my 2019 Travato GL to my dealer, Winnebago Motor Homes in Rockford, IL, and asked Mick and his service team to try and figure out the trouble. They cleaned out the tank a bit with strong water pressure, filled the tank, and put in some cleaning chemicals.
Trouble was, I wasn’t flushing enough water into the toilet, especially after going #2. So the sh*t literally build up on the bottom and sides of the tank. Gross!
Four Tips to a Happier Black Tank
1. Flush more water when going #2.
2. Clean the tank regularly with Thetford Tank Sensor Cleaner
3. Rinse with the San-T-flush system after every tank dump.
4. Use waste tank detergent after each dump.
Do those tips and you won’t have inaccurate black tank sensor issues, and an EMPTY TANK! Happy tanks make for happy campers!
