Meaning of TO HAVE AN EYE FOR - A Really Short English Lesson with Subtitles READ ALONG TO PRACTICE YOUR ENGLISH AND TO LEARN THE MEANING OF TO HAVE AN EYE FOR: So in English when we say that you have an eye for something it means that you're really, really good at it and we're usually talking about something visual. A great example would be, maybe you have a sister who's just really, really good at home decorating. She's really good at picking out paint colours for different rooms, and she's really good at picking out furniture and carpet, or flooring, to make a room look really, really cool. You would say that she really has an eye for decorating. She really has an eye for it. She's really good at it! Maybe you have a cousin who's just really, really good at painting cars, again something visual, maybe they're just really good at picking out two different paint colours to paint a car and it just looks amazing when they're done. You would say that they have a real eye for it.
