When New Zealand parliament’s Speaker backed up as a nanny Parliament is a place when one witnesses fiery debates. When emotions run high, it’s the Speaker’s job to maintain discipline. But Trevor Mallard proved to be more than just a Speaker in New Zealand’s Parliament. The Speaker cradled and fed an MP’s newborn son who had just returned from paternity leave. Mr Mallard even posted the VIP’s photo on social media. Mallard tended to the child of Tāmati Coffey, the MP from Waiariki, while presiding over the proceedings of the House.
