Duke basketball commit DJ Steward and his Chicago Whitney Young Dolphins squad are by all accounts expected to be Chicago's preseason #1 high school basketball team and will likely also be favorites to win the Illinois 4A (large school) state title. The Dolphins faced a tough, physicaI Chicago Bogan Bengal squad led by Derrion Jones (in the pink shirt) at the PEP Fall league. It was the Dolphins first time playing together this season. Bogan was playing without some of their star seniors.
As you will see, it was a VERY physical game, as most Chicago Public league games are. Whitney Young's Grant Newell and freshman Dalen Davis stood out.
After giving up the lead, Young senior Tyler Beard tied the game at the end of regulation and DJ Steward's free throws sealed the win but Whitney Young was tested!
