Training Pathway for a Novel Smart Surgical System (FLEXDEX) This video and associated publication in Colorectal Disease journal details the pathway for ensuring competency and enabling proficiency in the use of new instrumentation for human operations. Here the focus is on FLEXDEX a smart surgical system that via a gimbal and wired technology converts the natural movements of the operating surgeons hand, wrist and forearm into precise effects of the instrument tip inside the patients- it acts like a robot but in a single use instrument priced comparatively to other laparoscopic instruments.
