I found out I HAD a TWIN sister - I was ADOPTED but NOT my TWIN sister

I found out I HAD a TWIN sister - I was ADOPTED but NOT my TWIN sister This is Sasha's story, and this is the tale of how she found out she had a twin sister. Back in Grade 10, I found out I was adopted. My parents told me, once I turned 16. They felt I was old enough. In doing so, they also said I could contact my birth parents if I wanted. My biological parents. What some would refer to as my “real” parents. But I would argue my real parents are the ones who raised me. At first, I was upset. You think things like, “Do they love me wholeheartedly?”, and, “Can I date my brother now?”. Just kidding, I didn’t wish to date my brother. He was too old for me. I told my parents that I did wanna see my biological ones. They agreed, and so we set up a day where I could meet them. I didn’t sleep much in the few days leading up to this arrangement. What if they were terrible people who I wish I shared no relation to? What if they were amazing people who I wish I had been raised by? But I tried to remember, that if they put me up for adoption, there’s no way they would’ve been prepared enough to raise me and that I was lucky to end up where I did. And then the night came, I and my folks pulled up to the yard of my birth parents. We parked and walked up to the door of their house, and then we knocked. My anticipation built. It felt as though time slowed with each second that passed. Later I found out that in actuality my wristwatch was broken. The door opened, and before me stood two strangers who vaguely resembled me. One, began crying and hugged me. This one was my bio-mama.My thoughts won’t permit it, and so the moment ended. Bio-mama backed up. And we all walked inside, their dinner table was set up with pasta. And at the table, sat one more person. Another me, physically, at least. Different clothes, make up, hairstyle, etc. Emotions were further extreme field by the 2 following realizations, respectively: I have a twin. And They gave me up, and not her. I sat down at the table, and we began eating. We talked lightly, about school, and my hobbies, what they do for a living, my music tastes, you get the idea. Then, they said that if I was ready, they’d be willing to talk about why I was put up for adoption. I agreed. They said that they were barely financially equipped to have one kid, let alone two, but that they were only going to give one of us to another couple if they knew we could find a home right away. Heads - I was kept. Tails - I was out. They tossed a quarter, and tails called the shot. Now, I felt at ease, because I knew I wasn’t unwanted. But also, if you gamble on which kid to keep, I’d hate to see what you’d do at a casino. Not good judgment man. Then I got to know Mel, my twin sister. And she was kinda cool but also I realized how glad I was that the quarter landed on tails. I mean, they raised Mel to like NSync and eat brussel sprouts.
