Push notifications is one of the trends that got started in 2018 and some people predict will gain even more momentum in the years to go. I can see that as well.
Push notications are delivered by instant messages to mobile devices. Instead of using someone's phone plan it's free, which is a big plus.
They can be delivered to desktop computers, but are more common with smartphones and tablets. A push notification are those little messages you get from an app or website.
You know the ones that annoy the crap out of you, at least they do for me. I turn off all my notifications on all my apps because otherwise I would go crazy.
This is a big method that is on the rise. The second method that I want to talk about is TikTok, which used to be Musically.
I started looking at this more lately because Gary Vee talks about it all the time. Gary Vee is a genius in many ways.
He also has case studies of getting lots of views because there are not enough creators on the app. There is a big advantage to moving on a platform before it's super popular. It's the supply and demand right?
Also, right now there is no advertising or way to monetize it from the app. Of course it has to monetize sometime in the future because it's a business. Right now it's getting as much as popular.
This means you can get started build up a user base and enjoy organic advertising to help your business. I just made my first video on it today, and I put a ton of weird effects around myself when I'm talking.
The third trend that I have to talk about is audio. Audio content grew 24% in 2017 and some predict will doable by 2020.
The great thing about audio is that it can be consumed in the background, so it doesn't require as much attention as reading or video.
I know what you might be thinking how do you do affiliate marketing with audio?
The podcasting platforms I use Anchor.Fm that sends out your show to 8 different platforms, plus it's free allows you to put a link in the description.
Soundcloud does the same as well. You can mention this link at the end of your show. Another idea is to get a domain name that passes the radio test. This means it's easily spelled if you mention it.
You can use this domain and website to grow your business.
Those are 3 affiliate marketing methods on the rise. Let's talk about a few affiliate marketing methods on the decline.
The biggest method on the decline is seo. Seo is a broad topic, but I'm thinking black hat seo techniques, that I used to love. This is backlinking and stuff to trick the machine. All this stuff doesn't work and might even hurt you now..
It did work 10-20 years ago, and it worked great, but not anymore.
The second area that is declining is blogs. Sure having a personal blog is still viable, blogs will probably always be around, but there are many other options for creating content.
Linkedin Articles, Vlogs, Apps they are all fighting for attention as well.
The last area that is on the decline is Amazon's Affiliate Program. The reason I'm mentioning this is because for starters the amount of money they pay out has declined.
Plus, they have gotten very strick, banning people for little reasons and their cookie duration is only 24 hours.
This means if someone goes to Amazon 2 days later you don't make any money. Most affiliate programs have MUCH longer cookie duration's.
One last thing I want to talk about is some people think affiliate marketing is dying because of the decline in Amazon's program, seo, blogs and these older ways of doing business.
Affiliate marketing can be a very lucrative business model if you focus on growing a list and you know what to do with the list. You also really should focus on high ticket products to sale because you only have to sale a few of them to make very good money.
You don't need all the traffic in the world to make good money with this business.
