Rumour has it, that legal immigration is on its way out.. could this be the reason why approvals are taking so long, and so many feel trapped while a decision from the Home Office is being made? Is the Hostile Environment Policy doing it's job of cajoling foreign nationals to leave everything they've worked so hard for? On 23rd April 2018, the Home Office announced "Members of the Windrush Generation who arrived in the UK before 1973, will be eligible for free citizenship. The offer which will be available to people from the Commonwealth countries, not just the Caribbean nationals will extend to individuals who have no current documentation - those who already have leave to remain and want to advance their status, and children of the Windrush Generation", which was meant to be processed within two weeks. They then cite the reason for not completing within 2 weeks, because evidence was not provided. So I guess, the operative word here is 'eligible', otherwise they would have said "will be granted free citizenship!!"
