Lord Winston: 'Increasing number of cyclists are extremely aggressive'

Robert Winston, a Labour peer, said he went up to the 'well-educated' female cyclist in central London to tell her it is illegal to cycle on the pavement. She immediately became very aggressive. He said: 'There is no point going to the police because it will be impossible to identify the cyclist. The requirement for number plates would mean cyclists who are blatantly breaking the law can be identified'. Just days before the attack, Lord Winston had raised concerns about aggressive cycling in the House of Lords.
