Ellevark acquires a Chime Water in the present and tries to go through the memory again. This ends predictably poorly, as all of his attempts to change the past causes moments of static before the past returns to its original state. Oh, and the Chime Water disappears without being used.
Gran tells Ellevark that the past cannot be changed with the Past Archive and that people cannot live regretless lives, but that's how it should be for their actions to have meaning. He advises Ellevark to visit Armonica so he can properly mourn Stella's death and thank her.
You can now go to Armonica, though the shops all refuse to service you because the date on your commonwealth pass is wrong.
You can buy Chime Water from the Pope, but he'll only allow you to have one on your person at a time. I assume this is to prevent greedy people from trying to monopolize the water and scalp the sick. Yes, I'm looking at you, Zanzibar from Ys Seven!
To proceed with the event, speak to Stella's mother, who tells you that Stella's grave is behind the cathedral. While there, the soldier who sold Ellevark out apologizes and reveals that he attempted to save Stella at the last minute, but couldn't make it in time. He also reveals that a disgruntled soldier poisoned the asshole priest, though I suspect he's the one who did it considering the priest was threatening him.
This does bring up the question of why Ellevark didn't use time sand to turn back time. I'm guessing that unless it's a world-ending event like the revival of the Dark Lord, the other Celestials would have stopped Ellevark from doing so, and even in that case, Frixis wasn't too happy about it. It wouldn't surprise me if Ellevark did attempt it shortly afterwards only to be stopped by Gran and Frixis.
I also squeezed in the next main story event, where Ellevark and Karnel enlist an unlikely ally: Silmina. Surprisingly, she cooperates, though she has trouble getting Crowa to do the same. In the meantime, Ellevark wants to visit Memoril and Luxefa to get more information about Port Fever, though this will require the Over-water boots recipe from Karlo. Good thing I already have all the ingredients.
