Keighley & Worth Valley Railway Diesel and Mixed Traffic Gala 2019

Keighley & Worth Valley Railway Diesel and Mixed Traffic Gala 2019 For the first time in 5 years, the diesels return to the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway for an event of their own, with a fantastic line-up of visiting locos from various societies and the mainline.

Prototype HST 41001 played a staring role throughout the event, running with her matching Mk3 coaches, along with two class 50s, in the form of GBRf 50007 'Hercules' and Intercity Swallow 50031 'Hood' and 31163 in her new 97205 departmental livery.

From the mainline, DRS provided 88009 'Diana' on what was the first visit for a Class 88 to the Worth Valley, and GBRf provided 47727 'Edinburgh Castle'. The KWVR's own diesel home fleet was also out in force, with 20031, 25059 and 37075.

Mixed traffic runs with 5820 'Big Jim' and Standard 4 75078 also provided some very unique and interesting consists, most notably a S160 HST pairing, surely something unlikely to be seen again in the near future!
