God promised Abraham that he would receive Canaan as his inheritance. Jacob who died in Egypt insisted to be buried in the Promised Land, so did Joseph. The Israelites carried Joseph's bones with them in the desert for 40 years and buried it in the Promised Land. Why were these patriarchs so concerned about where they would be buried? They valued their inheritance. The Reubanites and the Gadites along with half the tribe of Mannasseh did not want to cross the Jordan along with the rest of the Israelites. They were happy with the land east of the River Jordan. They did not value their inheritance and settled for less than what God had for them. Are you settling for less than what God has for you?
