Jackson spoke of the hospital’s recent growth, having hired 150 new employees since last year. Some of the growth can be attributed to the aftermath of Hurricane Michael with some of the new hires coming from hospitals in Bay County and surrounding areas.
“Between Pensacola and Tallahassee, we are the most comprehensive cardiovascular hospital,” explained Jackson. He went on to discuss the hospital’s cardiovascular program and shared that Fort Walton Beach Medical Center is the first hospital in the tri-county area to offer WATCHMAN, which is a cardiovascular implant for those with atrial fibrillation to reduce or eliminate the need for warfarin and similar medications.
