Mainstreaming the Use of Data for Decision-Making in Africa’s WASH Sector

The power and promise of data to improve development outcomes is immense, when decisions—with regards to policy, planning, and budgeting—are informed by evidence. But are data being used to inform decisions? And if not, how do we support the use of monitoring data in the decision-making process?

The Water for Africa Through Leadership and Institutional Support (WALIS) project held a webinar on Tuesday, June 11 to explore these questions.

The webinar looked at which factors promote or impede the use of data in decision-making and the role of regional institutions in building the right incentives and culture for data-driven decision-making. It also examined efforts to institutionalize the use of data for improved decision-making in the water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) sector at all levels across Africa.
