In this video Coach Cathcart demonstrates three drills that he uses with his players to understand and feel the back hip and legs through the swing. Without proper lower half action, the upper body can not work properly which will then lead to soft and inconsistent contact. Loss of balance, lack of power, and too much head movement are the three main flaws/results that we will see in hitters with a bad lower half. As coaches we must get our athletes to feel movement patterns so they have the ability to fix them. "If we can't feel it, we can't fix it"
Hopefully these three back hip/lower half interaction drills can help your young hitter to have better understanding and feel for the engine of the swing. (the hips and legs)
