Heavy Rainfall Submerges Low Lying Areas Mumbai, Daily Life Disrupted

Heavy Rainfall Submerges Low Lying Areas Mumbai, Daily Life Disrupted Intense monsoon rains wreaked havoc in Maharashtra leaving a few people dead and hundreds stranded yesterday(August 3) while several rivers were in spate in Gujarat, though the situation improved slightly in flood-hit eastern states of Bihar and Assam. The IMD predicted very heavy rains for the next 48 hours in Mumbai, Thane and Palghar, and extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places. The BMC issued an advisory asking Mumbaikars not to venture into sea or in water-logged areas. The heavy water-logging in Mumbai disrupted suburban rail services with trains being delayed or suspended which is likely to continue today. Operations at Mumbai airport are also being delayed with some flights being cancelled as well.
