The government listed the contentious triple talaq bill for consideration and passage in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday. It was passed with 99 ayes and 84 noes. Despite numbers stacked against it, the Narendra Modi government finally managed to breach the Rajya Sabha citadel to get the triple talaq bill passed by Parliament. At least 4 Congress MPs were missing. Many parties and MP's also didn’t vote, even though they had moved amendments to the bill.
