✍ A Colorado coroner was indicted on an official misconduct charge for allegedly sending his wife to “numerous” death scenes this year, prosecutors said. Elected Lake County Coroner Shannon Kent was indicted Friday by a grand jury for the petty criminal offense, the Fifth Judicial District Attorney’s Office said in a statement Monday. Kent’s wife, who was not identified, was not a sworn deputy when she was sent to the scenes, prosecutors said. Deputies are allowed to exercise the authority of the coroner, whose duties include investigating causes of death and moving the bodies of people who die outside of hospitals. Instead of an arrest warrant, a summons was issued for the coroner. It wasn’t immediately clear whether any of the scenes Kent’s wife allegedly responded to involved potential crime victims, KDVR reported.
