Gayatri is the King of Mantras one does not need another mantra to attain Liberation
what Sai Baba says of the Gayatri: The Gayatri is considered as the essence of the Vedas. Veda means knowledge, and this prayer fosters and sharpens the knowledge-yielding faculty. As a matter of fact the four core-declarations enshrined in the four Vedas are implied in this Gayatri mantra.

The Gayatri Mantra is a sacred chant that demonstrates the unity that underlies manifoldness in creation. It is through the recognition of this unity that we can understand the multiplicity.
OM sound of creation; the sound that arose during the primordial movement, the vibration that was caused by the One enveloping itself with maya, the creation.
BHUR the earth, the gross material.
BHUVAH the ether, the atmosphere, the subtle. (heaven)
SVAHA the causal, the heaven; Self, soul.
BHARGO about the all-pervading brilliance and sparkle
DEVASYA from God, from the divine light.
DHIMAHI meditate; may we meditate.
Oh Divine Mother you enlighten all the worlds, enlighten our heart and our mind, beware us from darkness Let us adore the supremacy of that divine sun, the god-head who illuminates all, who recreates all, from whom all proceed, to whom all must return, whom we invoke to direct our understandings aright in our progress toward his holy seat.
Light is an important element because of the power over darkness.
