Born with a terminal heart condition, Pippi (black and white) used to have trouble walking without gasping for air. And because of his severe leg issues, Forrest (black) came to us unable to stand or walk properly. Look at them now! We couldn’t have asked for a better time to welcome Forrest into the Farm Sanctuary family. Pippi's best friend Poppy — another calf with special needs — is currently with our vets at Cornell and Pippi had been mooing and crying for her missing friend, which was heartbreaking to hear.
When Forrest arrived, he took to “big sister” Pippi right away and found the comfort he craved after having lost his mother when he was just days old. And Pippi found another playmate to keep her company. She no longer cries at night, and loves taking charge of her new little herd. Together, they are helping each other heal. 💚
