As many of you will know, this coincided with a global change in climate and a megafaunal extinction, changing the world in dramatic ways in relatively recent history, an event that was certainly witnessed by mankind.
As reported on phys.org, the team of scientists published their findings in the journal Palaeontologia Africana, of a clear and obvious platinum spike at a site called Wonderkrater in the Limpopo Province, north of Pretoria in South Africa.
A core was drilled into peat deposits and the evidence was found in a sample that dates to around 12,800 years ago. Watch the video to learn more.
