Special sitting for MPs to decide Brexit future - BBC News

Special sitting for MPs to decide Brexit future - BBC News For the first time in almost 40 years British members of Parliament will sit on a Saturday to try and decide the way forward on Brexit. MPs will be called to Parliament on the 19th October. The session will take place the day after a European Council Summit, where all the European Union Heads of State will gather, and which is widely seen as the last chance to agree a Brexit deal before the deadline of October 31st.

In Brussels the EU’s chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier, said the two sides reaching a deal ahead of this deadline would be “very difficult” but they would continue negotiations.

Meanwhile, former Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt told the BBC’s Political Editor Laura Kuenssberg that he feared a catastrophic failure in statecraft from the EU and accused them of failing to understand British politics.
